Our Founder

Olena Zdanov

I am delighted to introduce Kado Foundation, a charitable organization I established with my dedicated team of supporters and volunteers to support and develop orphaned children in Ukraine.

Having grown up as an orphan myself, I understand the critical importance of support and the specific needs of children who have lost their parents.

My personal journey inspired me to create an organization dedicated to providing these children with hope, self-confidence, and the opportunity for a bright future through education and comprehensive support, including psychological assistance.

I was born in Lutsk, Ukraine. At the age of two, I became an orphan and was placed in an orphanage. When I was eight years old, I was adopted by a wonderful family. At that time, our family had 16 members, and later it grew to 20.

My adoptive mother was a choreographer and created a large dance ensemble that attracted children from all over the city. That’s how I fell in love with ballet and dreamed of becoming a ballerina.

I worked hard to be the best, and I became a soloist in the “Zoretsvit” dance theater. This experience taught me to achieve my goals, revealed my talent through dance, instilled discipline, and made me determined to never give up. Thanks to perseverance and discipline, I realized that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.

We toured various cities in Europe with our performances, winning prizes at competitions and festivals. One of my most memorable moments was when we performed at an orphanage. I came on stage in pointe shoes and a tutu, dancing “The Dying Swan.” The children started laughing at me.

At first, I felt embarrassed and angry, but after a few minutes, I understood that they simply didn’t know what it was, that it was art. I felt very sorry for them. It was my first realization that they lacked the opportunities to develop, gain knowledge, and discover their talents. This made me appreciate even more the fact that I had a family and the opportunity to grow, work, and explore the world.

In 2008, I graduated from the University of Culture with a degree in ballet master and choreographer, earning a master’s degree. In 2020 I graduated from Taras Shevchenko University with a degree in psychology. I am a proud mother of two boys.

My goal is to use my experience to help orphaned children and foster in them a belief in themselves, especially during this most tragic time for Ukraine.
